BJS-EDUQIP :
Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana – Educational Quality Improvement Program
BJS-EDUQIP is a mega project of immense potential contribution in the field of education at the State and National level and by providing necessary inputs for the holistic development of children at all the 400 schools in Andaman & Nicobar. In preparation for the same :
- BJS has already established a fully functional office at Port Blair
- Manpower requirement has been estimated at 164 professionals and more than 100 of them are already working on the project. Recruitment of the implementation team is also under process.
The Bharatiya Jain Sangathana (BJS) and its educational wing, the Federation of Jain Educational Institutions (FJEI) has 20 years of experience and a highly professional team of in-house experts backed by international resources. It has a network of 1800 educational institutions all over the country. Which rely on their abilities to deliver substantial results.
BJS accepted the challenge and geared up for introducing such programs in the Andaman & Nicobar schools through a three year customized ‘Andaman and Nicobar Educational Quality Improvement Programme’ (EDUQIP).
BJS then conducted a needs analysis and has now developed a basket of 12- 15 high value programs, which are ready to be implemented. In fact these programs were showcased over a period of five days at Port Blair to a select group of participants invited by the A&N administration. The participants included education officers, principals, and senior teachers. The showcasing was done by senior officers of BJS who have been directly involved in researching and developing these programs. The showcasing was also broadcast through the facilities of video conferencing and made available at four other remote island locations. At the instance of the Central planning Commission, A&N administration also appointed a four member expert committee to evaluate the showcased programs and ascertain the relevance and benefits to the schools and children in A&N.
An Evaluation-cum-Review Committee was formed as per Order No.1641 dated 5/4/05 involving following educationists :
- Sri. C. Nachiappan, Principal, SSS Mohanpura
- Dr. R.P. Pandey, Principal, SSS Rangachang
- Smt. Anjulata Verma, Principal, SSS Garacharma
- Sri Nitin Banerjee, Coordinator (Acad), SSA
In response to the expert committee report, BJS then submitted a comprehensive project proposal to the A&N administration for implementation of BJS-EDUQIP.
It has been a matter of great satisfaction to BJS that not only the expert committee appreciated the quality but strongly recommended BJS-EDUQIP to be implemented at the earliest and starting from the academic year 2005-2006.
On July 18, 2005 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Department of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration and BJS detailing the operative part for the implementation of BJS-EDUQIP. Further this was followed up by A&N constituting a 5 member empowered Joint Committee (AN-BASIC) to facilitate the smooth implementation of BJS-EDUQIP.
The programmes have been researched and developed by BJS and includes steps of developing concept, scooping, designing, developing, rollout and implementation, monitoring and review keeping in mind the needs assessment done for the schools of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. |
